A big, stacked show in Chicago Ridge opened with EXCELLENCE members coming out to a chorus of boos. Alexander Wright, the unofficial spokesperson (or loudmouth, if you will) of the group stated that him, Black and Compton are gunning for all the prizes in SPITFIRE and will begin their quest today. When the boos got louder, Ryo Unikawa saved the situation, arriving early for his match against Compton and breaking Wright's flow of words.
1) Marshall Compton def. Ryo Unikawa at 8:56
The youngster from Brooklyn finally got his big victory in AS3 opening contest. Ryo Unikawa fought hard and definitely gave Marshall a run for his money, but the EXCELLENCE member got his break with blocking a Brainbuster attemp and hitting a Tornado DDT. Eventhough Ryo kicked out and got Marshall in a position for Kaimetsu Kick, Compton slided out of the hold and snapped on the Compton Clutch which got him the submission victory.
Post match, the other two EXCELLENCE members tried to beat Unikawa up until his former rival Derrick Wiland made the save.
2) Nina Stokes def. Mia Abbott at 6:44
Despite being a little bit more experienced than Nina, Mia was kinda lost in her SPITFIRE tryout match. Abbott tried her best to keep Nina grounded with her mat wrestling, but Stokes broke free and really got the crowd going with her high octane offense. Mia kicked out of Sliced Bread Number Two and then went for an attack of her own, but Nina dodged the short-arm Lariat and kept a hold of Mia's hand, capitalising and hitting American Ninja for the three count.
However, Stokes' celebration was cut short as the veteran Joey Ruff stormed to the ring. Despite not being dressed to wrestle, The Ruff Daddy greeted the former KWI student with a Clothesline and his Ruff Times finisher instead of a handshake. Getting on mic right after, Joey stated that "piss poor teenage drama queens" won't be ruining "his time" in SPITFIRE.
3) Ricky Ian Pearce def. Bryan Kross and Christian Rhodes at 7:11
The man many call the next SPITFIRE Champion faced two former champs and showed he's ready for the big challenge. From the opening bell, Ricky was agressive and on fire, until a double team move from former Future Factor teammates and now rivals caught him off guard. As Ricky was shaking off the pain from the Superkick/Chop Block wipeout he received, Kross and Rhodes were fighting one another and both scored a couple of near falls. When Kross had Rhodes ready for a Powerbomb, Pearce rose from the ashes and dropped him with Midnight Crisis Leg Lariat. As Kross rolled out of the ring, Pearce hit RTO on Rhodes and got the tapout win.
4) CK Money def. The Dead Generation at 10:35
"The Headhunter" Josh Lost and "The Highway Hitman" Rob Riley made their first SPITFIRE appearance and were pretty impressive. Their violent style corresponded well with the style of CK Money and it made for a good tag team bout. Lost was going for his Lost Souls finisher (Hammerlock Lariat into an Anaconda Vice), but Darrell Kashmere dodged the Lariat and got a nearfall after Red Wing of Truth. The end came when Riley was going for a Spear on Cameron Capone, but Capone leapfrogged over him and Riley accidentaly hit his own partner with the move. Darrell Kashmere then rolled the confused Riley up for the three count and CK Money finally broke their losing streak.
5) SPITFIRE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TRIANGLE TLC MATCH: Team Wade beat EXCELLENCE and Two Men Army at 22:51 to retain the titles
It was a crazy match from the very beginning, but in the end, the risk taker champions prevailed over the powerhouse duo of TMA and technically sound EXCELLENCE. Eventhough EXCELLENCE were labeled as favorites and dark horses of the match, Two Men Army wiped them out of the match after little over ten minutes after stereo Powerbombs through two different tables. Riker was closing in on the victory, reaching for the tag team belts, but Syco dropped him with a sick Sunset Flip Powerbomb off the top of the ladder, allowing Merc to climb the ladder and unhook the belts.
6) John Pariah def Jason Richards via submission at 19:38
Pariah and Richards had a back and forth technical classic, that put their first encounter last month to shame. After several minutes of strikes and kicks-the match evolved into a ground game. Pariah focusing on the shoulder, and Richards the leg. These two are back and forth for the entire match. The match ended after Pariah hitting a Mirakuru to the back of Richards head-after dropping him off of his shoulders-following the match he locked in the Gates of Gotham, and Richards tapped out after what seemed like an eternity.
After the match the two shook hands, and Richards grabbed a mic, and issued a challenge for 2CW's next iPPV. Richards said "We've met twice now. I pinned you once, You made me submit once. That's great...but the fans want a decisive winner." Pariah cut him off after that, and said "You're right Jason. Let's make this better. At The Battle for Bludhaven-let's do a 30 Minute Iron Man!" Richards took a moment, and the crowd roared with cheers. After a moment, Richards shook Pariahs hand-cementing the match for 2CW's Next iPPV
7) SPITFIRE Heritage Championship: Matt Bane def. Jackson Davis at 14:44 to become the new champion!
Matt Bane surprised everyone when he won his first SPITFIRE gold after beating The OPM. Davis was doing his thing as always, dominating the competition with his incredible power, but Matt got his break when he countered a Polish Hammer by Davis, getting him on his shoulders and hitting a Death Valley Driver. It lead to a two count, just like Davis' Death Valley Bomb which came few minutes after. Crowd was in shock when Davis kicked out of BOOM! Headshot, but Bane followed it up with a Spear and another BOOM! Headshot and pinned the strongest man on the SPITFIRE roster to win the Heritage Championship.
After the match, Davis and Bane shook hands, showing the sportsmanship and respect.
8) "FINAL CHAPTER" KO ONLY STEEL CAGE MATCH: Mikal Drakin def. James Silkk at 17:33
In the highly anticipated blowoff match in the rivalry of former multi time SPITFIRE Champions, blood was shed almost from the very beginning. Both warriors bled buckets as they both used the unforgiving steel cage as weapon. We nearly saw the end when Silkk broke out of a Chokeslam attempt and hit Drakin with THREE consecutive Dream Killers right in the center of the ring. However, just when the referee was going to proclaim Mikal as knocked out, Drakin grabbed him by the shirt and dragged him down to tell him he's still ready to go. Few moments after, Silkk was thinking Dead Man's Ballet, but before he could apply the chokehold, Drakin got out, Irish Whipped him to the corner and hit a Big Boot there. If the fact that Silkk's head bounced off Mikal's boot and then off the steel wasn't enough, Drakin mounted Silkk's back and started raining down elbows to the back of the head and neck until the referee stopped the match, proclaiming Silkk as knocked out, hence Drakin as the winner.
Both men received standing ovation as the cage was raised and they were being taken care off by doctors. Mikal Drakin got on the mic and promised that since his feud with Silkk is laid to rest, his only job now is to make sure that the name Mikal Drakin will be on the SPITFIRE Championship once again.
9) SPITFIRE CHAMPIONSHIP: Adam Stryker def. Derrick Wiland at 36:40 to retain his championship
Just when people thought one awesome contest and one standing ovation was enough, Stryker and Wiland put on a clinic for the top prize in SPITFIRE. Derrick Wiland, the American Strong Style superstar, surprised Adam with a flurry of hard hitting moves after breaking out of Adam's holds and turning the slow, technical pace of the match in his favour with kicks and dives. However, it was the champion who was the first to nearly end the match - when Derrick was going for a Moonsault Press, Stryker caught him and hit a brutal Tombstone Piledriver. However, Wiland kicked out to cheers from the crowd. "This Is Awesome" chant broke out and Wiland got a nearfall himself when he slid out of Elitist Smasher and hit The Black Hole Driller, but Stryker kicked out just before three. Derrick was inches away from the title when hitting both Spinning Kenka Kick and Reverse Rana to get the champion on his back and then went for Phoenix Splash, but Stryker blocked it with his knees. He then hit The Amateur Brain Surgery and locked in the Shallow End to get the tapout win after more than half an hour of breathtaking action.
After the match, both men shook hands and Stryker put Derrick over on the mic. Ricky Ian Pearce interrupted and got face to face with his friend and trainer Stryker, telling him that if he thinks half an hour in the ring with Wiland was too much, he will not like Richard Page's decision about the main event in September - it's Stryker vs. Pearce for the SPITFIRE Championship in 60 Minute Iron Man Match!
