Post by Grayson Shaw on May 13, 2015 14:19:14 GMT
The screen is black as the sounds of dripping water is heard. We fade in-and water is dropping from a faucet, calmly, slowly. The camera angle widens, and we see Grayson Shaw sitting on a metal folding chair-in what appears to be some sort of jail cell.
The sound, can drive a person mad. All it takes, is just one event, one minor little detail-and a person otherwise thought sane, can flip around and be completely and utterly not.
Shaw stands up, turning toward the camera now. His hair down and beard fairly unkept.
So many sounds can cause such dischord. What some people feel is ‘white noise’-could be the thing that sends someone over the edge. The constant patter, the constant flow. Drip. Drip. Drip. Drip. A pause, and when you think its stopped-it starts again. Drip. Drip. Drip. Drip. And than than a crash!
He exclaims as he grabs the metal chair-and slams it against the faucet.
And then the silence. The serenity. No more white noise, no more words, no more sounds. Just-the sudden clarity of the moment. Its like that in the ring Declan. You hear the fans cheering for you, they got to throw their streamers and sing your praises. Than just like that-they’re all silent, as you fall down to the mat for the End Times, and you’re covered for a unanimous three count. There is no powering out, there is no survival, there is only darkness, and only death. Declan its an experience you haven’t really felt here in 2CW-but its one you will feel on Saturday at REDEFINE. It’s one you will suffer-and my apologies to the Villain himself Mr. Owyns. My apology that you made such a little impact on the champion that he looked completely past your Number One Contender status and offered me a shot at the 2CW Championship.
He chuckles for a moment, looking around the cell.
But I’m not one to look a gift horse in the mouth-and I’m not one to say no to a huge pay day.
He smiles again.
Declan, on Saturday night-your time will come to a close here in 2CW. I mean, thats what happens to former champions in 2CW right? They fall into obscurity? I mean Pariah couldn’t even keep his wife safe. Aries is in the tag division, and where is Troy Stone now? I’ve seen the future Mr. Black, and it ends with me standing tall, and you feeling the End Times. After Redefine, you will remember my name Declan….you will remember it well…
He smirks, as the screen cuts to static

(The following is a reprint of a blog post by Declan Black to DeclanBlack.com, made on Wednesday, May 13th, 2015.)
I've been hearing a lot lately about my challenge to Grayson Shaw, and I seem to be getting a lot of negativity, a lot of shade for it. Some say I'm overlooking Jack Owyns for Revolution. Others say that giving in to Shaw's demand for a title match is giving a creepy bastard with a proclivity for fucking about in the personal lives of better men than himself too much press. There's some truth to those statements, I won't deny it. But here's my side.
I'm the 2CW Heavyweight Champion, and the NAPW World's Heavyweight Champion. As we stand, in 2015, I think it's fair to say I know a little something about this “being a champion” thing. By no means am I a master at it, but I truly believe that being a champion at this level means something more then just holding a belt and calling yourself the best. True champions in the SPORT of professional wrestling meet any challenge, whether in the ring or outside of it. Grayson Shaw is just another challenge.
Now, as Grayson said in his promo, in the reigns that preceded mine, the legacy of the 2CW Heavyweight Championship was tarnished. Of the previous five champions, only one, Ryan Kidd, actually made a successful defense. None of those reigns lasted over a month. I'm starting from a few steps back when it comes to establishing the credibility of this belt. But that's something I have to make a priority for myself. If this belt is to become a true prize, worthy of the best in the business, I have to put some value back into it. So, no, I'm not just defending on REvolution cards, I'm defending every chance I can get.
The list of challengers is long, and growing longer by the day. Behind Grayson and Jack Owyns, James Silkk is waiting for a shot, Johnny Ajax is too, Ryan Kidd is making noise again, Mikal Drakin is busy making a case again. Brock Whitworth might be coming for his shot. If John Pariah can overcome Grayson, I don't doubt that he'll be knocking on my door soon enough. Any of those guys in the tag title hunt right now could lay claim to a shot at my title. Grayson Shaw is the first because he made the challenge. And I'm more than happy to answer any challenge.
But I'm not afraid. As I've said, I love pro wrestling, and I love some good competition. So Grayson, you better bring your best to Chicago come Thursday night, because you'd better believe you're getting mine. You are my first challenger, Grayson Shaw, because you're good...but you'll be the first of many, because I'm just a little bit better.
See you in the Second City.

(Declan Black is in the back in Chicago, sitting on an equipment crate. He only recently arrived, and still looks a bit tired from the flight from Miami. Nonetheless, the champion looks sharp in a slate grey suit, his title belts slung over his shoulders. He patiently waits for his cue and starts speaking...)
Grayson Shaw is many things, folks. He's a great competitor, and you need only look at his output in the last month to confirm that. He's ambitious. Going after John Pariah, no matter what you feel about it, took a hell of a set. He made his challenge to me before he even got Pariah properly, so yeah, the guy has his eye on the prize. That's admirable. Something out of my playbook. My hat's off to him for that. And Grayson Shaw is, above all, a survivor. If his life, his younger days, didn't break him, how in the hell can any competitor expect to? Not many can. He's unbeaten in 2CW, certainly.
But, for all the great things Grayson Shaw is, he's got some obvious flaws. He focuses too hard on mind games, so he's somewhat reliant on his opponent being mentally weak before they even hit the ring. He's young, inexperienced. He makes young people mistakes. Against a lot of competitors, he can get by fine with these flaws. But I'm not a lot of competitors. I'm THE man in 2CW, as long as I'm champion. So Grayson doesn't intimidate me the way he does others. I've had mind games played on me. I've had my neck broken by a hopped-up psycho who was trying to protect his title.
It's hard to upstage or even equal putting a man in a hospital with a backboard and a brace on him. And you can't, Grayson. You can't hurt me like that, because that injury just made me wiser. And I've still got the most potent move in professional wrestling today, the one that has never been kicked out of. The Blackout. And Grayson, if I hit you with it, you're going to go down the same as every other one of its victims has. You have it in you to be great. But you're not ready yet.
Take this match as a learning experience. You're getting to see how the top tier works. And I know you'll be back someday, and you'll be more ready for it than you are now. You'll be beyond this following a guy's wife bullshit that makes you look like a scared amateur. You'll have a few more tricks, and maybe you'll know me just that much better. This is a challenge I'm taking on to teach you, Jack Owyns, and 2CW at large a lesson. I'm not only out to be a deserving world champion, but the best ever.
At REdefine on Saturday, you'll be the first building block of MY legacy.
(Declan hops off the crate and walks out of the shot, as we fade...
To...
Black.)
