[Backstage at the REDEFINE taping at the Excalibur. There’s a party going on, and women are dancing around, while James Silkk is sitting in a green room, preparing to take the stage with his band. The camera comes in and Silkk smiles, putting his drink down and leaning forward.]
SILKK: So, this week on REDEFINE…we suffered a minor setback. That’s perfectly fine-because in the end The Dynasty, will take the top spot in this company. We’re taking over this city-one match at a time. Now, I’ve been given the task of wrestling the Champion himself-Declan Black. A match I wanted a couple of weeks ago, and didn’t get. That’s fine, no complaints here-because now I have the 2CW Champion in the ring, just a week after he was brutalized by Grayson Shaw, just a week removed from a hellacious steel cage match. Call me a vulture if you want to Declan, but the scraps are there for the taking.
[He smirks, and leans back for a moment.]
SILKK: Don’t think that I’m underestimating you Declan. Don’t think that for a second. I don’t want you to underestimate me either. The last person to underestimate what I am capable of in that ring-was Tweeder in PWX. Where’s he at now? I took the World Championship from him, and ever since he’s been reduced to bingo halls and flea markets. Me? I used that opportunity to catapult myself into a whole new tax bracket of fame and success. Three multi-platinum albums, multiple world tours, and several singles championships after that. Why is this important Declan? Because history is cyclical, and if you underestimate me-no one in your little club will be there to save you. Just like Pariah was there to be your guardian angel last week when Grayson Shaw was about to break you in half-there won’t be anyone around to do it this time. I promise you that Declan..
[He smiles, and stands up-picking his guitar up and slinging it over his shoulder.]
SILKK: The Dynasty is here in 2CW, and we’re ready to strike. Don’t under estimate me Declan, you’ll regret it…
[He smirks and heads out of the green room as we fade to black]

(The following blog was posted to DeclanBlack.com on July 1st, 2015.)
Happy Canada Day, readers.
So, I've got Johnny Ajax on July 11th.The Match of the Century at Youth Gone Wild. And trust me, your 2CW Heavyweight Champion has no shortage of things to say about that. But, one has to learn to prioritize such things. To push that aside to deal with more immediately pertinent problems. Of course, being Declan Black, being the fightingest 2CW Heavyweight Champion there's ever been, there's always a problem right up ahead. Everybody wants a shot at the champ, with or without my title on the line.
#REdefine010 is no different, of course. Another challenge has crossed my path, and I will answer it. But, this challenge, this may be the greatest challenge yet for Declan Black. It will be a true test of all my physical, mental, and maybe even emotional acuity, what awaits me this week. Many a 2CW competitor has tried that challenge, the very one I face at this week's #REdefine. Many have failed in its wake, left lamenting their tragic defeat. But I am a true champion, the King of the Second City, and though it may be dangerous, maybe even life-threatening... I must meet this challenge. I must wrestle James Slikk...and avoid getting an STD from him.
I know the danger that I am opening myself up to, and two days prior to my wedding, no less. I know that I should be catching such terrifying diseases from comely ladies of the evening, morning, and afternoon, not from a greasy throwback to 1984, which I thought we all agreed about 15 years ago was a culturally regrettable year. I know that he may well not be right in the head, given that he thinks that fucking hairstyle is getting him any pussy whatsoever.
And I know his poor excuse for a band is the worst best-selling act this side of Nickelback, and potentially exposing myself to their death wails could be risking permanent ear damage. I know all the risks. Do you think I don't see them myself? I know that when I grapple that poor excuse for a man, he's probably going to be sticky. I know that two, maybe three bleach-enhanced showers are going to be necessary to wash off the stench of failure that comes from James Slikk's every pore. And I know that most women and transvestites need a rape whistle whenever they get within fifty feet of him. But I am the King of the Second City, and I must do such things to prevent my great subjects from such horrors. I do it because you're pretty cool people. And I don't want you to have to explain away a "cold sore", or be subjected to an itchy nightmare of an experience which can only be treated with penicillin.
Thus, I go into #REdefine and I take down the vile James Slikk...because that's the kind of hero I am.
...Pray for me.

*The camera opens on Declan Black, sitting quietly on a rock formation overlooking the ocean, only a little ways away from his home in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Black, in a Michigan State basketball jersey, silver basketball shorts, and black Nikes, is ignoring the scenic beauty...he has eyes only for the camera.*
Underestimate you, James? Before you get your panties in a twist over that, how about you give me something to estimate? Because the fact is, as much as you have a great resume elsewhere, as good a competitor as you are, and as much as you were supposed to be the personal protege of John Pariah, all you've been in 2CW is a "supposed to be". You were "supposed to be" the next generation for 2CW. You were "supposed to be" the guy who picked up the torch from Pariah as the next big thing for this company. You were "supposed to be" Chicago's next great hero.
The thing about "supposed to be", James, is that it's only what you could POTENTIALLY be. And if you don't get there, well, people just see you as a disappointment. That's exactly where you are right now. Because after all that hype, after all the promise and the hope that was invested into you, after all that? You choked. You lost. You failed, when your future was on the line. And one thing makes this match really ironic. All that stuff that you were supposed to be? The great champion, the great hero everybody thought James Slikk was going to be?
That's exactly what I became.
I became the best, the natural successor to John Pariah, the man who supplanted all his records. I ascended to a throne I earned every bit of. I became King of the Second City.
And no, I haven't done it on my own. Yeah, I had people that helped me along the way, and John Pariah, my mentor and my friend, was chief among them. But I won, I did, I achieved, on my own. I beat Grayson Shaw, and Jack Owyns, and Marisol Hawkes, and Jake Keeton, and everybody else...I'm going to beat Johnny Ajax...on my own. Yeah, I got some help when some thugs who couldn't get the job done in the ring attacked me from behind like criminals.
But come #REdefine, James, you're not fighting me from behind. I'm not gonna turn my back and let you hit me. You've gotta beat me one on one, and there ain't nobody in this company that can do that. But I encourage you-try. Try to beat me. Fight the match of your life. Because I want to see what those fans did way back when. I wanna see what John Pariah saw in his greatest student. Show me that you're ready to be what they wanted for so long for you to be.
Or just stay the fuck home.
*The camera fades on an angry glare from the 2CW Heavyweight Champion.*
