“So I see how it is…”
A very frustrated looking Abby Watkins looks into the camera of her laptop, sitting on her bed at home.
“I lose the Golden Dreams match, and now apparently I have to beg to even be put in a match. Last week, I didn’t make the card. Sure, that stung a little bit but for the most part, I understood. You can’t book everyone on every show, all the time. People have off weeks. It is part of the business.”
She shrugs.
“What I don’t understand is why I have to beg in order to even be put in matches. I don’t understand why it takes an angry tweet to even get booked. That is just the latest in a long line of bullshit that I am getting tired of. It all started with Death By Velocity and their goddamn tag team title shot that they didn’t earn, or DESERVE. Then my partner leaves. Then, I qualify for the Golden Dreams match. Now, I think that QUALIFYING for the match is something that is going to be enforced, but no. Instead, they let everyone into the match, and someone that lost a qualifier ends up winning. So much for all of my hard work. Why did I even bother to win a qualifier, when I could skate by and get in anyway? It means I wasted effort on a match that counted for nothing. To top the cake, now I have to beg to be booked? Seriously?
She rolls her eyes and gives a wave of her hand, mentally brushing the thoughts away. She chews on her bottom lip for a moment and then sighs.
“Am I not the girl that won the tag team titles in her debut? Am I not the same girl that had, arguably, the match of the year against Carmen Cambridge? It seems like regardless of my effort, success, or talent, I continue to get shit on by the powers that be. Could all of this be some kind of major coincidence? Could I just be the girl that has been at the wrong place at the wrong times? Maybe. It definitely doesn’t feel like it though.”
She takes a deep breath and straightens herself up.
“So that’s it. No more tag team partners. No more trainers. No more bullshit. I am done being the girl that comes so close, only to fall so far. I am done being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Instead, I am passing that bill along to you, Drew. I am not fighting to prove anything. I am not going to fight in order to better my position. This match is going to be about one thing, and one thing only. Making sure that I am on the right side of the pinfall, and for once, in the right place, at the right time. If you have a problem with it, then that is your problem. Sorry, not sorry.”

"Nobody wants to be on the wrong side of the pin Abigail but things happen and if you honestly think that things are going to change this week then oh brother, you most certainly have another thing coming."
Opening up on the handsomely chiseled face of the legendary, Drew Stevenson, who is sitting on his front porch enjoying this beautiful day, he sits on the comfort of his porch swing and leans forward so that the camera can view him much easier.
"Let me ask you a question Abigail, does it look like I care what you are tired of? Does it look like I sit around caring about what people in this company are tired of?"
Shaking his head, he doesn't care what people are tired of because in his mind; it's all about him.
"No, I could give a rats ass what you are tired of because do you want to know the truth? It's not that poor little Abigail has been at the wrong place at the wrong time, no, it's that Abigail simply hasn't been good enough to get the job done."
Looking as serious as a heart attack, he clasps his hands together and continues to speak.
"So do me a favor and quit crying about how you just haven't been lucky as of late because I don't buy that whole luck bullshit.
You want things to change around here? Then get off your ass and make things change, quit crying to the world about your problems because I'm here to tell you - I know that I don't give a damn about your problems and I'm pretty sure that nobody else does as well."
Taking a moment to pause, he was on fire, spitting nothing but the truth which was verbal venom right now.
"You see Abigail, this match that we are going to have? It's not going to get any better for you, as a matter of fact? Things are about to get a whole lot worse so if you are disgruntled about what has happened? Wait until you see what is about to happen because much like what I did to Brian Hollywood, I am going to do to you as well.
What you see as anger, I see as fragile. Right now Abigail, you are in a very bad state of mind and I'm just going to be honest with you - I will most certainly take advantage of that. When that bell sounds?
The proverbial gloves are coming off and I really don't care if you are a woman or not because I'm guessing that you are one of those girls who want equality, right?
Well don't worry sweetheart, you are going to get that exact same equality when I beat you for the whole world to see and no, that's not a threat but a promise."
Rising to his feet, he walks off away from the camera and into his large mansion as the door shuts behind him.

“Drew, I hate to break it to you, but the only person that is wrong, and the only person that's going to be on the wrong side of a pinfall is you. See, this isn't just another match for me, and my words weren't just whining. I guess you are the type that likes to take things at face value. You're the type that cares what something looks like on paper rather than in reality. I wasn't complaining. I was putting everyone on notice as to exactly what bullshit I have had to suffer through. That's bullshit I had to suffer, and yet I am still here. If all I was doing was whining, I damn sure wouldn't still be here. If that's the message you got, then it isn't hard for things to go over your head.”
Abby shrugs and looks away. She feigns wiping her hands off by rubbing her palms together, and flicks her hands at the camera, throwing the thought away.
“You want me to get up off my ass and do something about losing? What do you think I have been doing for the last two weeks. I lost a big match. Did I cry on twitter? No. Did I run back to my little circle of friends to be consoled? No. Instead I fired a trainer that was more of a distraction than anything, I went twitter silent, and I ate, slept and trained inside a gym for two weeks. I have watched back the tapes. I have seen what I have done wrong. I have busted my ass to remove those faults from my game. I have had two, quiet, and isolated weeks to do nothing but improve on the things that two years of training didn't prepare me for. And you know what? I'm not going to be making those mistakes this time. No, there is no chance of that.”
Abby looks confident, but there is no visible frustration, unlike her previous promo. Instead she seems calm.
“You forget, before my latest losses, I was tagged as one of the future stars here. I won a championship on my first night. People looked at me then, and look at me now as a person with the kind of raw talent that not just anyone has. I am slowly, but surely, evolving that talent into sharp and quick decision making in the match. It has taken some work, but I have finally taken notice of the chess match that happens inside the ring. The pieces don't always move the way you planned them to. That is the name of the game. It's about adaptation as much as it is skill. Someone like you, has been playing this game long before me. What you need to learn about me, is that I am an incredibly fast learner. I guess you will just have to wait and learn that lesson first hand though because come time for our opening bell, you'll be behind the curve.”

"Adapt or perish, that's the name of the game, right?"
Nodding his head while being a smart ass, he has that look on his face that shows everybody just how much of one that he is getting ready to be.
"That is so cliché and everybody and their brother seems to go that route when they have "put everybody on notice".
Excuse me if I'm not impressed with what you are saying because quite frankly; you have done absolutely nothing since I have been here that screams to me that I should take notice or really look in your general direction."
Taking a moment to pause and to gather his thoughts, Stevenson looks down and straightens his jacket always wanting to look at his finest, especially when on camera.
"Say what you want to Abigail, you were complaining about the current situation and instead of trying to pass the buck - what you should have done from the start is simply fess up to it. But I will tell you what, if it helps you sleep better at night to say that it goes over my head then be my guest because no matter how many trainers that you fire, no matter how many days and nights that you spend in the gym?
None of that is going to matter once you and I step into that ring as opponents. So you won some championships on your first night here, isn't that correct?
I'm guessing that's the part where I'm supposed to be impressed? In case you haven't noticed, I have taken former champions of this company and I have ran them into the ground. I have broken their bodies, I have sent them away to pasture and if you think you can escape what's going to happen to you simply because you WERE Champion here once upon a time then you need to go to the learning tree and grab the biggest, juiciest Apple on it that you can find because you have a lot to learn - especially when you're dealing with a man of my caliber."
Smiling very arrogantly, he was really adding salt to the already wounded Abigail. Reaching into his pocket, he grabs out his checkbook and begins writing a check.
"But I will tell you what Abigail, I am going to write you a check so you can buy the best trainer, train at the best gym and eat only the best foods because it's not going to matter, at the end of the day?
Abigail Watson is going to fall to her knees right in front of yours truly, Drew Stevenson and nothing is going to change that!"

“You have taken former champions to the ground before? You've broken their bodies? Perhaps you have even crushed their spirits? Is that what your entire promo was supposed to lead me to believe? Then, mission success… at first.”
Abby tilts her head slightly to the left side and frowns at the camera.
“What kind of toll did that take on your body. How much time did crushing these people take off your career. If their destruction is what you are implying, then what was the collateral damage on yourself? Did you think I wouldn't figure that out? Did you honestly think that I don't take notice of every word that my opponents speak, regardless of where their words show up? Or were you expecting me to simply skip over the fact that just a day ago, you were talking, quite pathetically I might add, about how your poor knee was in shambles and it was causing you to consider retirement?”
Abby shakes her head, the frown not leaving her face.
“The real difference between you and me is that I am not on the way out. I am young, busting my ass to better myself each day. I am mentally and physically preparing for this match. Sure, you say that no preparations are going to change the fact that you're going to win, but we both know that's not true. While I am taking aim at you, you are thinking about retirement. While you are thinking your knee isn't ready to go, I am standing here at the top of my game.”
Abby shrugs, and her frown twists into a smile.
“If it isn't enough that the doubt is already set in your mind, at the very least, you have given me even more ammunition than I already had. Instead of watching your matches and trying to locate a weakness, you handed it to me on a silver platter. While you have been complaining about your knee, I have been putting time in. Now, I know where to focus my efforts, and you best believe that I am going to be focused come time to step in the ring.”
Abby gives a small smirk.
“I may have stumbled recently. I have have fallen down the ladder, but one thing that I am, is young. That comes with inexperience. Everyone has to start somewhere. I can't argue that I am just getting started in this industry. The difference between us is that I am on the way up, and you are on the way out. I have been slipping back down the ladder. So I have nothing to lose here. A loss against you puts me in the same place. A win starts my new ascent. You? Drew, you are a man on the way down and out, and a loss against me may just cost you everything. That has to be a thought that will keep you up at night. After all, you have already handed me your biggest weakness.”

"I would say that you definitely don't listen to everything because if you had? You would know that those former champions that I have broke, they are all in this one company."
Nodding his head, he has his left knee stretched out.
"You see Abigail, I wasn't referring to the champions that I broke elsewhere in this business. I was referring to right here in Redefine, you know, the place that matters..."
Looking down at his left knee which has a large, scar on it from previous surgeries, he reaches down to rub it while giving off a half smile.
"... Now since you managed to see my tweets about my knee, yes, I have had a bad knee for many, many years now but that has never stopped me from beating people just like you Abigail.
Now as far as me "crying" about it? I think somewhere along the path of life, you forgot what crying is. I didn't talk about my knee pathetically, I simply stated what was going on with it and for your information - I went and saw a doctor about it not long after that tweet and do you want to know what he said?"
He pauses.
"He said that I am golden, that this knee is still going strong. Now with that being said Abigail, let's not get your hopes up because if you honestly think that I am on my way out of this company then you have another thing coming, a VERY rude awakening on the horizon.
However, I would say that you of all people would know better than anyone else here about falling down the ladder of success. You haven't been a name that people have mentioned or really taken all that seriously since I have been here Abigail and spin the story anyway you want, scream from the rooftops about how you are a former Tag Team Champion here and I will tell you that nobody cares, you don't have somebody watching your back against me."
He nods.
"Now, since you are standing at the top of your game Abigail, do tell me why you were just complaining not long ago about how things were going for you. I mean, people at the top of their games don't fire trainers, don't live in the gyms but maybe that's because the top of the game for you Abigail is simply being complacent. Maybe being at the top for you is actually at the bottom for the rest of us and another thing, since I "handed you" my biggest weakness; what are you going to do with it?
So many people in this business have known about my left knee, it's not a hidden secret, as a matter of fact? You are simply one in a very long line of people who have threatened me with that exact same thing and here I am, still going strong today so answer me this Abigail; what makes you any different than the rest?"

“I hear you Drew. I’m listening intently. As difficult as some of the thick condescension might be to get through, I am probably one of the few that made it through it. But before you bunch your panties, I don't mean that as an insult. I am simply saying that you toot your own horn a little too much for anyone other than a die hard fan of yours to push through it all. To be honest, if this wasn't match I was already in, I don't think I would have bothered after the first.”
She sighs and shrugs, leaning forward in her chair and towards the camera.
“... but, for the sake of this being a productive practice, you asked a question and I intend to answer them. What makes me different? What am I going to do that others just simply did not manage? Why am I going to be a success here, when I wasn't one weeks ago when everything was on the line for me?”
She nods, clasping her hands together in front of her chest and looking away for a split second before finding her words.
“The fact that your knee is, and I will quote from you, “getting worse” is not just a talking point to me. See, regardless of what you say in a promo meant to hype yourself, when there was nothing on the line, and you were being brutally honest, you said it was worsening. Of course you aren't going to talk about it like that leading up to a match. You are going to say whatever you can in order to take the target, that you placed there, and put it somewhere else. You aren't going to shake me. You aren't going to drag my focus away.”
She laughs lightly.
“Unlike all these other girls that try and fly around the ring, or use their looks to get ahead, I'm different. Tell Carmen Cambridge that she looks like a dude with way too much makeup on and she will forget every other word you said. Tell someone that likes to fly around that you have a knack for crushing people, then they think twice about taking to the air. Me? You planted the target on yourself. I am a tactician. I take aim, and I take apart. That's all that there is to it. A lot of the time, it is a recipe for success. My latest matches haven't afforded me the opportunity to zone in on just one person though. Golden Dreams was littered with bodies. This week it is just me, and your knee.”
Abby nods confidently.
“...and to answer another question. I fired a trainer that was more talk and less work. Someone that thought they were on top so didnt have to put the work in that I do. I guess the two of you had a lot in common. You think you're at the top of your game, but I'm letting you know you're wrong.”

"OK Abigail, since I'm not at the top of my game as you are telling everybody - then what does that mean for everybody else?"
Standing on a large football field out in the middle of the night, Stevenson, stands there looking rather dumbfounded that his opponent can't seem to understand the words that are coming out of his mouth.
"Since we have a failure to communicate Abigail, let me clarify it for you since you can't seem to grasp the English language.
I, Drew Stevenson, have beaten everybody who has been put in my path thus far right here in Redefine. Well, with the exception of Jordan who had to have several other people help him out during our match.
But anyway, I haven't been beaten one on one. My record is perfect, absolutely flawless in every way, shape and form so if I'm not at the top of my game then that means the rest of the people here are just that bad?"
Chuckling to himself, he continues to speak.
"Now before anybody tries to chastise and crucify me for that, that is coming from Abigail herself and not me.
However, since you can't seem to really understand what I am telling you and since you are so focused on my knee and thinking that I am lying to you, let me prove to you that my knee is going to hold up just fine."
With everything already set up, Stevenson kicks a field goal with his bad leg.
"Now as you can see, my knee is going to hold up just fine Abigail. Yes, after five matches in one night over in another promotion, one in which I had shards of glass sticking out of my flesh - I did have some thoughts that my knee may have taken a pretty good hit but as I already told you, in which case you weren't listening, I went and seen a doctor since then and he said that my knee is golden.
So Little Miss tactician, I sure hope that you open up them ears and start listening real soon because if not? You are not only going to find yourself on the losing end of the spectrum this week, which is going to happen regardless but you will find yourself missing a few teeth as I kick them down your throat."
Smiling, he continues to speak.
"Now with that being said Abigail, did you understand what I said to you? Do you finally see that my knee is going to be OK or are you going to continue beating the dead horse? Either way is perfectly fine by me because the end result is going to be the same, just as I said from the very beginning - Abigail Watkins is going to suffer another defeat, you are going to fail, just like you seem to do in big match situations and when that happens? Just remember one little thing, and that is that I told you so."
Wink!

“So, while training for this sport, I spent a lot of time around the nation. I am not the kind of person that sits around in my apartment, hotel room, or friend’s house when visiting somewhere new. I am the kind of person that gets out and does some exploring. I learned that at a pretty young age. See, my parents were the same way. My dad worked the kind of job that had us moving around a lot. I wouldn't have made very many friends if I didn't take in the sights.”
Abby looks around, walking around the streets on a raomy day. The camera follows her as she tilts her head to the side, admiring a bit of graffiti of a rabbit on a wall she passes.
“For bettrer, or worse, I learned that a lot of cities are the same. They all have their bad sides. They all of the rich end. Most importantly, each place I lived in, or trained around, had a football team to go out and watch. My dad loved football. Me? I am more of a basketball girl. More than that though, I was always a daddy’s girl. So, when he would come to a new city, and go to take in a game, I would be right there with him. In 2007, that landed us front and center watching all of the Washington Huskies home games.”
She stops walking and turns to the camera.
“That year there was this kid. Im pretty sure his first name was Ryan, but, you know how football is, only his last name was on the back of the jersey. So, this Ryan Perkins was a great kicker back in 2006 apparently. We weren't there then, but I took announcer’s word for it. For Ryan though, a lot changed at a spring game. He got run into and tore every single ligament in his knee. Sure, surgeries kind of fixed the problem, but then the arthritis was so bad that he had to warm up for hours before games before he could start kicking. Being a man about it, he admitted that it was a hindrince, but one he was willing to power through. Guess what, doctors cleared him.”
She pauses, hoping that everyone had already put together what she was saying.
“So for this kid, who needed a total knee replacement, but pushed that off to keep playing, to come back and keep kicking field goals shows, that's not a real test. Drew, what you did, it takes all of ten seconds to do. It doesn't take endurance. It doesn't take ten to twenty minutes of constant punishment like match does. In essence, all you have done is waste your time trying to make a single point, and failing at it.”
Abby smiles with a shrug.
“If you want to shake me off my game, you are going to have to do better than that. I am coming for you Drew, and that bad knee.”

Sitting on the comfort of his large sofa, Stevenson looks incredibly bored after the story that he just heard from Abigail.
"Seriously? I had to listen to the whole story to learn absolutely nothing?"
Shaking his head, he was dumbfounded.
"Abigail, I welcome you to come at my knee because you obviously don't listen. But since you are still on this kick that I am on my way out, go for it because you are going to be very disappointed the moment you are staring at those bright lights realizing that once again, your plan wasn't good enough and you failed.
Now do you really understand how hard it is to kick a field goal? You see Abigail, if this person was as hurt as you made them out to be then no doctor in America would clear them to play, that's just how it goes. However, you have this clear notion in your head that you know everything that is going on so go out to a football field and kick a 40 to 50 yard field goal and you will see exactly the kind of strain that it takes on your leg, knee included."
He sits there confidently.
"But to humor you Abigail, let's actually say that you managed to work over my knee really well, let's play the story just for a moment.
Do you think you are the first person to do that? Hell, if so then you are quite possibly the most naïve person that I have ever seen in our business. You see Abigail, this isn't my first rodeo with somebody just like you, who threatens to hurt my knee simply because they feel it's my biggest weakness.
As a matter of fact, since I feel so confident that I am going to beat you Abigail, I will tell you what is my biggest weakness because I know that even if you have that proverbial silver bullet? You don't have the gun to fire it and that is your biggest downfall."
He smiles arrogantly.
"My biggest weakness isn't my left knee Abigail, no, it's my neck that I broke years ago. Now of course, I have already had it surgically repaired but if you want the truth; it bothers me far worse than my knee ever does.
Now with all of this knowledge bestowed upon you Abigail, how does it feel to know that it's not going to matter? Even with you having my biggest weakness, my kryptonite, the problem with that Abigail is that you aren't equipped with the talent to use those tools against me."
He pauses.
"Now say whatever you want in your next piece, continue to bring up how trashed my body is like I don't know that because I'm telling you Abigail; as God as my witness? You aren't walking out of Redefine #31 with your hand raised as the winner and take that however you want, say whatever you want but it's the gospel truth."

Cameras follow Abby as she makes her way to her car, the Chicago skyline in the background.
“Drew you want to talk weakness? It seems like that is as far as we go at this point. Our conversations seem to have boiled down into a pointless debate about whether or not I am going to be able to hurt you.”
She places the keys in the door, but doesn't turn the lock, instead, leaving them to rest there. She puts her back to the rear passenger door, leaning against the body of the car.
“The biggest weakness in this business, is tunnel vision. Now, if you go by the things that we have said, you'd think I have been focusing exclusively on the fact that you complained a little about your knee. You even went as far as to say I fabricated my story. I'm sure you're a smart guy, pull out a phone and go ahead and google Ryan Perkins. I am many things, but a liar isn't one.”
She shrugs.
“Your knee, your surgically repaired neck, aside, it didn't change what I have been doing in the gym. It didn't change my focus, because I have learned, in the last few weeks even, that doing that is a recipe for losing. I don't want to get to where I am only staring at your knee in this match. Is there a target there? Sure. Have your words put one on your neck? Yeah. I didn't put in hours upon hours in a gym to attack one spot though. I spent hours and hours sharpening all my skills. I have dedicated time to attempting to deal with people that are bigger than me. Injuries aside, you have the advantage of height and weight, and I would be an idiot if my focus wasn't on trying to neutralize those facts.”
She pauses and crosses her arms in front of her chest.
“Am I going to injure you in this match? Are you going to get beaten so badly that you consider retiring? No. Probably not. I’m not the kind of person that talks about how I am going to destroy people. You know what happens when people that do that lose? They are left with nothing at all to say. Afterwards, they have to make excuses. Instead of that, I just drag myself back to the gym. These last two weeks, I have more or less lived there. If you remember, that is something you made fun of me for. If you noticed, I didn't really touch on it until now. Why bring it up now? Because it showed me how much more I want this win than you do. It seems to me that you expect a win. That kind of attitude won't get it done against me.
She turns from the camera and turns the lock before pulling the handle to open it. Stepping in, she turns to the camera one last time.
“I’ll see you tonight.”

"Tunnel vision, if anybody has had tunnel vision going into this match, it's definitely you Abigail."
Standing outside, it's nothing fancy going on as Stevenson simply stands there with his arms placed behind his back.
"I like how you have backpedaled about everything that you have said thus far, it shows that everything that I have said is 100% true, the gospel as if Jesus Christ himself had wrote it.
If anybody wants to go back and listen to your words Abigail, they would see as clear as day that you told everybody that you were going to put me down. You said and I quote, "That I was on my way out" and now all of a sudden? You have changed your whole tune, that little music box that was playing in your head no longer goes by the same tune that it was singing not long ago."
Removing his right hand from behind his back, he holds up a picture of a horse, nothing spectacular about it, just a regular old horse.
"Quite frankly, I'm glad that you decided to change your tune because this is Pete. Now Pete was a wonderful horse, a loving friend, Family member and overall; just a wonderful pet to have but do you know what happened Abigail?
You beat Pete to death, you continued to go on and on about the same thing that poor little Pete didn't stand a chance against you."
Tossing the picture off to the side, he continues to speak.
"Now as far as everything else goes Abigail, you have been nothing more than a one trick pony and you can bet your sweet little ass that it's going to come back to bite you in the ass later on tonight.
Now I don't expect you to understand that because after all, you can't even stick to your own word but that's perfectly fine, because you don't have to understand or grasp what I'm saying, leaving you flat on your back will be plenty enough for you to wake up and understand exactly what just happened.
Now before we end all of this talk Abigail, I have realized one very important thing about you - you are the kind of woman who only understands things when you are treated just like Rihanna. I can scream from the rooftops and you will never understand it but the moment that my fist meets your face? You will understand the second coming of Christ, Abigail and for the record, I am he!"
Leaning forward so the camera can get a much closer look at him, the expression on his face was that of a very devilish one, he knew what was going to happen tonight even when she didn't. Waving goodbye to the camera, Stevenson turns away from it and simply walks off as the last thing we see is the picture of poor old Pete who was beaten to death by Abigail.
R.I.P. Pete 1/8/14 - 1/9/16
